Many people have asked how to add FancyGens widgets to their websites. I guess it's about time for a tutorial like this :)
You may have a website at Piczo, Multiply, MySpace, Xanga, Freewebs, and even Facebook. FancyGens widgets can be customized and added to your website, profile, or blog, no matter where it is. We have users on blogger, pagii, and even users on bebo asking "how do I put widgets on my website?" Here is the answer.
Although we are becoming better integrated with Widgetbox, for many widgets you still have to use code. Go to any page on fancyGens, and you will have a widgets (basically a tool or toy) that you can put on your website. Google calls these Gadgets, Yahoo calls them Badges, and Facebook calls them applications, but it's all the same.
Start by customizing the widget. Some ask you to add your images like the FancyCube or Decoarator while some ask you to add text like the Glitter Text and the Led Text Scroller. So, click around and customize!
Next, click "Get Code" or click "Get Widget." This is what you want to put on your website. The question is how. This is not that hard. You will have to look around a little, but once you find it, the rest is easy.
So what are you looking for? A place to add html. What is html? It looks a lot like the code that you grabbed after customizing your widget :) On MySpace, you can paste it in the About Me section when editing. On Freewebs you want to go to the use the Insert HTML feature. You can also find a lot of our widgets within their Widget Bank. On Multiply, add the code into the editor, and you the widget will be right on your site. When using Piczo use the Widget feature while editing your site. On pagii use the HTML feature hen editing any page.
It's really easy. Just look for a place to insert code. Still having trouble? Email us and let us know where you have a site and are having trouble. We will create a better tutorial for it here. This is our first time, so I know there is a lot of text and not a lot of details. We will make this better based on your feedback.
Thanks for your support! Don't forget to add us to your MySpace.
